Call for Minigrants
Call for Applications: Minigrants Programme
The Institute of Biochemistry and Biophysics of the Polish Academy of Sciences (IBB PAN) announces a call for applications under the minigrants programme. The programme is implemented within the project “3xW (Exchange, Cooperation, and Joint Research Tasks to strengthen the potential of young plant biology researchers)”, carried out under the Strategic Partnership Programme of the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA) in collaboration with five partner institutions:
- Institut de Biologie Moléculaire des Plantes (IBMP), CNRS, France,
- Wageningen University & Research Centre (WUR), Netherlands,
- The Centre for Organismal Studies (COS), Heidelberg, Germany,
- Centre for Environmental Sciences (CMK), Hasselt University, Belgium,
- Bogazici University, Turkey.
The aim of the programme is to fund a total of 24 minigrants to support and strengthen collaboration between scientific groups from IBB and the partner institutions.
Who is it for?
The programme is open to individuals who meet the following criteria:
- Eligibility: Early-career researchers (maximum 15 years after PhD) and PhD students from IBB and the partner institutions.
- Participant Status: Applicants must hold a PhD student or employee status both at the time of application and throughout their entire participation in the minigrants programme.
- Research Field: The call is open to researchers whose work is directly situated within plant biology, as well as those from related disciplines whose research focus includes methodologies, technologies, or tools with a clear relevance and potential application to plant science.
What is covered? (Rules and Project Scope)
- Project Format: Every minigrant must be implemented as a joint research project. This involves collaboration between an early-career scientist from IBB and a laboratory at a partner institution, or an early-career scientist from a partner institution and a laboratory at IBB.
- Duration: Each minigrant can last for a maximum of 6 months. All projects must be completed before November 30, 2027.
- Research Internship: The project must include minimum 14 and maximum 30-day research internship at IBB or a partner institution. Shorter research trips lasting at least 5 days each are permitted, provided that the total number of visiting days equals not less than 14.
- Funding Scope: Funding covers a lump sum for travel costs (up to one round trip), a lump sum for living and accommodation expenses, and funds for materials, reagents, and services allocated according to the individual needs of the project.
How to Apply?
- Application Timeline: Applications can be submitted continuously from the launch of the call until funds are exhausted or until the final deadline of July 1, 2027, whichever comes first.
- Application Process: Applicants must complete the application form including a proposed budget. Applications submitted by PhD students must be countersigned by their supervisor.
