Procedure for the awarding of a doctoral degree at the Institute of Biochemistry and Biophysics PAS

The awarding of a doctoral degree can be carried out in the following modes:

  • Mode I – applies to candidates who have completed education at the doctoral school and are applying for the award of the doctoral degree.
  • Mode II – applies to candidates who apply for the award of the doctoral degree on an extramural basis.
  • Mode III – applies to candidates who began their doctoral studies before the academic year 2019/2020 and whose doctoral dissertation process was not launched before April 30, 2019.
  • Mode IV – applies to candidates who began their doctoral studies before the academic year 2019/2020 and whose doctoral dissertation process was launched before April 30, 2019.

In accordance with Art. 12 of the ACT of July 28, 2023 on amendments to the Teacher’s Charter Act and certain other acts, candidates who are currently proceeding under Mode III or Mode IV will lose their doctoral status on December 31, 2024. After this date, for these candidates the procedure for the awarding of a doctoral degree will be possible only on an extramural basis (Mode II).

According to the Polish law, only documents in the Polish language are valid on the territory of the Republic of Poland. Translation of the original version into English was made as a supporting document for those who do not know the Polish language. Only the Polish language version has legal force.

Information about the possibility of printing your doctoral dissertation at IBB PAS

Doctoral dissertations that will be defended before the Doctoral Committee of the Scientific Council of IBB PAS may be printed and bound free of charge by the Candidate at the IBB PAS Joseph Heller Library. If you would like to print and bind your dissertation, please contact the library employees. For technical reasons, only works limited to selected page volumes can be bound in the Library. Works that cannot be bound in the Library must be bound outside IBB PAS, at your own expense.
