Tribute to the Lviv Professors Murdered in 1941
The Institute of Biochemistry and Biophysics of the Polish Academy of Sciences (IBB PAS) paid tribute to the Lviv professors who were murdered by the German occupying forces in July 1941.
On the anniversary of these tragic events, representatives of the Warsaw Branch of the Society of Lovers of Lviv and the South-Eastern Borderlands gathered in front of the crystal memorial plaque donated by Professor Wacław Szybalski. Among them were the Society’s Vice President, Stanisława Stańczyk-Wojciechowicz, and Treasurer, Mirosław Szymański. The ceremony was also attended by Adam Stefan Lewandowski, Deputy Director of the President’s Office of the Institute of National Remembrance (IPN), as well as the IBB PAS Board of Directors and members of the Institute’s community. The participants lit a memorial candle and laid flowers beneath the plaque commemorating the murdered professors.
The Chancellery of the President of the Republic of Poland also paid tribute to the victims by placing a wreath at the memorial plaque.
