EMBO Workshop Molecular biology of mitochondrial gene maintenance and expression
The mitochondrial genome is essential for cellular energy transduction and cell viability. The dysregulation of this genetic system causes a range of human pathologies and contributes to complex diseases. Many aspects of these mechanisms remain poorly understood, although recent years have seen rapid and exciting developments in the field.
In this workshop, we will explore the frontiers of our knowledge of mitochondrial gene expression and maintenance through the following main sessions:
- maintenance and engineering of mtDNA
- mitochondrial transcription and RNA maintenance
- mitochondrial translation
- mitochondrial gene expression in cellular homeostasis
This meeting will bring together research leaders together with up-and-coming early career researchers to share breakthroughs and to define future research directions and priorities in
a collaborative and supportive environment.
