Laboratory of Quantitative Analysis of Drugs and Metabolites
The Laboratory of Quantitative Analysis of Drugs and Metabolites (POLiM) operates as part of the Mass Spectrometry Facility. The unit is listed in the register of medical diagnostic laboratories kept by the National Chamber of Laboratory Diagnosticians (KIDL) under number 3089.
The laboratory has modern analytical equipment that enables precise monitoring of drug therapies, especially for drugs with a narrow therapeutic index. The use of mass spectrometry techniques ensures higher accuracy of determinations compared to immunochemical methods.
One of the key areas of our activity is monitoring of the concentrations of immunosuppressive drugs used, among others, in patients after organ transplants. POLiM was the first laboratory in Poland to introduce monitoring of everolimus concentration using mass spectrometry, setting the standard for precise analysis of this group of drugs. The laboratory is also the only center in Poland that monitors leflunomide and teriflunomide therapy using LC-MS technology.
Extensive additional equipment also enables the development and implementation of new analytical methods for any drugs whose monitoring is important from the point of view of patient safety and treatment effectiveness. This allows POLiM to respond flexibly to the needs of clinics and the development of modern pharmacotherapy.
