With great sorrow, we inform you that on December 31, 2021, at the age of 71, Prof. dr hab. Marek Cieplak from the Institute of Physics passed away.

Prof. Cieplak was not only a friend and long-term member of the IBB PAS Scientific Council, but also an outstanding scientist researching static physics, solid state physics and biological physics. He was conducting research at the Institute of Physics PAS, as well as in academic institutions in the United States of America, Sweden, Germany, Italy and Mexico. Prof. Cieplak was also the author of several hundred scientific publications and supervisor of several doctoral dissertations and theses, founder and head of the Laboratory of Biological Physics, member of scientific societies and editorial boards of scientific journals, co-creator of joint scientific seminars of IP PAS and IBB PAS.

He will remain in our memory as a great scientist with broad horizons, great passion and invincible research determination. Honor to his memory!
