MITGEST Doctoral Network Consortium Meeting at IBB PAS

This week, we are hosting the third MITGEST training week. The meeting includes an engaging program featuring research updates, scientific exchanges, and career development opportunities.

MITGEST’s Doctoral Candidates will present their recent research progress and receive valuable feedback from peers and project partners. The activities also include:

  • Proposal Writing Workshop by accelopment
  • Bioinformatics Summer School led by Barbara Uszczyńska-Ratajczak and her team
  • Business for Science Workshop by CRAC/Vitae
  • Lectures by Karolina Łabędzka-Dmoch (University of Warsaw), Karolina Szczepanowska (IMOL PAS), and Barbara Uszczyńska-Ratajczak (IChB PAS).

Additionally, there will be a dedicated career path session titled “Working in Science: Industry vs. Academia.” This session will feature testimonials and insights from professionals who have experience in both sectors, providing practical guidance for early-career researchers.

MITGEST (https://www.mitgest.eu/) is a Doctoral Network (DN) funded under the EU Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA). It brings together world-class academic experts in mitochondrial DNA maintenance and expression, alongside leading specialists in nucleic acid chemistry and the development of mitochondrial therapies.

IBB PAS, represented by Roman Szczesny and his team, is one of the six beneficiaries of this initiative. In total the MITGEST network consists of 25 partners, including seven universities, six research institutions, two non-profit patient organisations, six innovative companies and two SMEs specialised in transferable skills training, research project management and dissemination, covering nine European countries and Israel.
