IBB PAS researchers honoured with the Prime Minister Award
Prof. Wojciech Bal and Dr Roman Szczęsny are the winners of the Prime Minister Award for life achievements and achievements constituting the post-doctoral thesis, respectively.
Dr Roman Szczęsny, was awarded for the highly-rated scientific achievement, which constitutes the footing of the post-doctoral degree’s conferment.
Dr Roman Józef Szczęsny: “RNA degradation and surveillance in human mitochondria” (medicine).
Submitted by the Director of the Institute of Biochemistry and Biophysics, Polish Academy of Sciences.
Awarded for the research of great importance for recognizing mitochondria biology and discovering innovative mechanisms according to which the mitochondria affect cell fate.
Prof. Wojciech Bal was awarded for the life achievements (chemistry).
Submitted by the Director of the Institute of Biochemistry and Biophysics, Polish Academy of Sciences.
Awarded for the development and explanation of the mechanism of the reaction of interactions on the molecular and cellular levels between proteins and metals (the new-generation drugs in Alzheimer’s disease).
