IBB at the 3rd Congress „Science for Society”

The 3rd Congress “Science for Society” was held on May 25-26, 2025. The event took place at the Warsaw University of Technology and at the Institute of Physiology and Pathology of Hearing in Kajetany.

The Congress was organized by the Institute of Physiology and Pathology of Hearing, based in Warsaw, in cooperation with the Main Council of Research Institutes, the Warsaw University of Technology, the Board of Directors of Scientific Units of the Polish Academy of Sciences (PAS), the PAS Committee for Clinical Sciences, the Institute of Sensory Organs and a group of scientists from university centers. The congress was chaired by prof. dr hab. Henryk Skarżyński, chairman of the Main Council of Research Institutes and director of the Institute of Physiology and Pathology of Hearing.

Minister Karolina Zioło-Pużuk, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, was a special guest.

There were 18 debates, in which 25 special guests from Poland and abroad took part.

37 scientific and research centers, including the Institute of Biochemistry and Biophysics PAS, presented their achievements and activities at exhibition stands.

Two presentations were given by dr hab.  Anna Sikora.

  1. Achievement of TRL5 technological readiness level of a two-stage installation for production of biohydrogen (bioH2) and biomethane (bioCH4) by anaerobic decomposition of sugar industry by-products.

  1. Utilization of biogas produced in the sugar refinery wastewater treatment plant at Cukrownia Dobrzelin (Krajowa Grupa Spożywcza SA) for energy purposes.

IBB PAS was also represented by dr hab. Magdalena Kowalczyk, prof. dr hab. Tomasz Sarnowski, and PhD students Martyna Paul and Robert Bińkowski.
