Agnieszka Kruszewska appointed new chair of COMNAP
During the 37th Annual Meeting of the Council of Managers of National Antarctic Programs (COMNAP), held in Warsaw on August 5–8, 2025, Agnieszka Kruszewska, Deputy Director of Administration at IBB PAS and Director’s Representative for the management of the H. Arctowski Station, was unanimously elected chair of COMNAP for the upcoming 3-year term.
This distinction is a new step in her many years of involvement in the organization’s activities – she already served as vice-chair from 2017 to 2021.
Agnieszka Kruszewska has been responsible for the logistics of the Henryk Arctowski Polish Antarctic Station for over a decade, supervising, among other things, the largest modernization of its infrastructure in history. She is also active in national and international polar bodies, including the Polish Polar Consortium and the Polish Academy of Sciences’ Committee on Polar Research, and is a member of the Polish delegation to the Antarctic Treaty meetings.
The unanimous election of Agnieszka Kruszewska as chair of COMNAP also confirms Poland’s strong position in the global community of polar research logistics.
Our warmest congratulations to the new Council chair!
