A new mechanism of seed dormancy regulation by temperature
A team led by Szymon Swiezewski from the Laboratory of Seed Molecular Biology at IBB PAS, in collaboration with the group of Artur Jarmołowski from Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań, published an article in the journal Nature Communications. The work describes seed dormancy regulation by a new lncRNA MUSHER, which, in response to high temperature, induces dormancy by activating the DOG1 and ABA pathways in parallel.
Interestingly, the authors showed that MUSHER and all other tested lncRNAs are retained at chromatin by U1 snRNP.
