Dr Paweł Ćwiek from IBB PAS receives DKMS Foundation research grant

We are pleased to announce that the DKMS Foundation grants for blood cancer research have been awarded to dr Paweł Ćwiek from IBB PAS and dr Tadeusz Kubicki from the Poznań Medical University. Congratulations!

The project “Identification of the molecular mechanism of depletion of anti-CD19 CAR-T CD4+ by DLBCL lymphoma cells” was awarded in the 6th edition of the DKMS Foundation Science Grant in the category of basic research. Diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) is the most common type of aggressive non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. The estimated incidence of DLBCL in Poland is about 5-7 cases yearly per 100,000 people. One of the therapies used to combat treatment-resistant DLBCL is CAR-T therapy which is directed against the CD19 molecule on the lymphoma cell. The goal of the project is to identify the molecular mechanisms underlying the depletion of CAR-T CD4+ anti-CD19 after contact with DLBCL lymphoma cells, taking into account transcriptomic and epigenetic changes.
